EPISODE 11 - RUPERT HOLMES

GUEST BIOGRAPHY

Multi platinum award-winning Songwriter and Recording Artist, David Pomeranz, "talks shop" with some of the finest Songwriters of our time.

Welcome to a new episode of, “SongSessions”. I’m your host, David Pomeranz, and with us today is someone whose work I truly admire and about whom, if he’ll please forgive me, I feel the much tossed-about word, “Genius”, certainly applies. There’s nothing this man can’t do.

He’s written and recorded Mega Hits for himself and others like “ESCAPE (THE PINA COLADA SONG)”, “TERMINAL”,  “HIM”, and “YOU GOT IT ALL” and aside from his own ground-breaking albums, “WIDESCREEN” and “PARTNERS IN CRIME”  he produced and arranged albums for Judy Collins and Barbara Streisand (“LAZY AFTERNOON” - and who recorded several of his compositions in her Movie, “A STAR IS BORN”.)

He’s won two Tony Awards and Drama Desk and Outer Circle Awards for writing Music, Lyrics, Book and Orchestrations to the Broadway Classic, ‘THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD” and he’s written the scripts and lyrics for Broadway’s, “GOODNIGHT, GRACIE” and “CURTAINS”. He’s also an award-winning Television Playwright (“REMEMBER WENN”), successful Mystery Novelist, and Short Story Writer. Amazing.

Rupert was rightly awarded the “ASCAP George M. Cohan Award” for excellence, diversity and depth throughout his extraordinary career.

This interview is longer than most we’ve done because he’s so freaking funny and his stories are so insightful and interesting. So, sit back, pour a coffee and enjoy the afternoon I was privileged to spend with the awesomely awesome, RUPERT HOLMES!
